How to roast makhana?

Step 1: You will need makhana (fox nuts), ghee and seasonings like salt, pepper or spices.
Step 2: Take a pan or kadai, add a tablespoon or two of ghee to it and let it melt over low to medium heat.
Step 3: Once the ghee melts, add the makhana to the pan. Stir them continuously to coat them evenly with ghee.
Step 4: Roast them until they start to puff up and get crispy. This process may take approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 5: Once roasted, sprinkle with salt or chaat masala. You can also add pepper or spices. Mix well to coat evenly.
Step 6: Remove the roasted makhana from the pan and let them cool before storing in an airtight container.

To roast makhana in microwave, take a few makhanas, add ghee, mix them well and put them in a microwave safe bowl. Now put it in the microwave for 30 seconds to warm it up. Stir them carefully again after 30 seconds and leave them on for another 30 seconds. Continue doing this until the makhanas turn crispy, roasted and light brown.
