National Ice Cream Day 2023: Healthy Ice Cream Recipes

Whether it’s months of waiting or cold weather, you can never say no to a few scoops of ice cream! The United States celebrates National Ice Cream Day on the third Sunday of every July, and that’s reason enough to enjoy their favorite frozen dessert. Even though going out and eating ice cream might sound like a tempting idea, but how about treating yourself and your family to homemade ice cream? Take fresh and dried fruits as the star ingredients of your ice cream, making it the perfect healthy dessert. Read on for a list of healthy ice cream recipes!

Healthy Homemade Ice Cream Recipes

Ice cream is a delicious dessert made mainly from milk, cream, sugar and various flavors and colors. Here are some ice cream recipes that you won’t regret trying!

1. Coconut ice cream

Ingredients

• Freshly grated coconut – 1 cup
• Fresh coconut cream or thick coconut milk – 2 cups
• Honey – 3/4 cup

Method

• Grate only the white part of the coconut.
• Roast over low heat until lightly browned, but don’t wait until browned.
• Using an immersion blender, blend the honey with the coconut cream or thick coconut milk until stiff peaks form.
• Add the grated coconut, and mix well then put this mixture in a bowl.
• Store in the freezer for 6 to 8 hours then serve.

2. Vanilla and cashew nut ice cream

Ingredients

• Fresh whipped cream – 1 cup
• Cashew nuts – 150 grams
• Brown sugar – 100 grams
• Vanilla bean – 2 grams

Method

• Whip the fresh cream for 2 to 4 minutes.
• Add the vanilla bean extract and mix again.
• Crystallize the brown sugar and add the cashew nuts.
• Leave to cool and chop finely.
• Add this caramelized cashew nut to the fresh whipped cream.
• Mix all the ingredients well then keep in the freezer overnight.
• Add a few roasted cashews when serving.

The expert claims that cashews are a superfood for glowing skin and vanilla is rich in antioxidants, which have healing properties.

3. Chocolate almond avocado ice cream

Ingredients

• Almond milk – 1 cup
• Roasted almonds – 75 grams
• Very ripe avocado – 1
• Condensed milk – 100ml
• Melted dark chocolate – 100ml

Method

• Roast the almonds, cool them and roughly chop them.
• Take a bowl and add the almond milk and condensed milk to it. Blend it using an immersion blender until it becomes thick.
• Add the avocado and blend until smooth.
• Add the toasted and chopped almonds.
• Pour this mixture into small ice cream molds and freeze for 8 hours.
• Dip them in melted chocolate, freeze for another hour and serve cold.

Sneha says avocado helps manage blood sugar and improves bone health because it’s high in calcium.

4. Guava chilli ice cream

Ingredients

• Pink guava – 2
• Fresh cream – 100ml
• Palm sugar – 4 spoons
• Red chilli powder – 1 scoop

Method

• Cut the top potion of guava and remove the pulp.
• Put this pulp in a blender and filter it.
• Once the guava purée has been obtained, add the fresh cream and the palm sugar and mix.
• Pour this blended mixture into the hollow guava.
• Sprinkle a little red chilli powder and put in the freezer for 6 to 8 hours.

The expert claims that guava is a good immune booster, helps relieve constipation and maintains blood sugar levels.

Once their preparation is finished, savor the flavors of the ice creams without guilt.
